It is unbelievable that it has been 15 years since the Hugo Chavez
overtook the power in Venezuela, more amazing if that the façade that his
government was able to show to the world was so intense, so profound that as a
Venezuelan it was so difficult to convince people from other countries that our
reality was extremely hard, that media was harassed at all times and real
information was kept aside. As all injustices, is only a matter of time when
are these showing its real face, moreover when a movement as the students movement
is rising against all odds. Our brave students are facing a rude life on a
regular basis, they cannot party as young people normally want to do because
they fear to be assaulted, robed or murdered due to the existing high
criminality, they want to have more opportunities for study, work for learning,
they want a better economy that allows them to travel the world and have access
to the information, culture and learning that normally the youth need in this
phase of their life.
All started because in Táchira State a young girls student
was raped, and the all the leaders and class mates decided to stop this, they
started a protest because it is not normal that one cannot be safe at their own
university, college, school or public place. As the protest increased, the
government increased the repression, stopping media and allow armed people
government friendly to use weapons. This has to be stopped. At the moment 15
people have been murdered, 33 tortured and more than 300 are in prison, many
fathers and mothers are looking for their sons and they are not even being
allowed to talk to them. This has to be stopped. The students have plans to
continue their complain so a change can arrive for Venezuela. What our students
want is a safe country where they can work, be productive and have a well lived
life. We can do that since we have wonderful people, and incredible resources,
all we need is the proper change, we all can say we are now in a path that is
irreversible until we see results, until we can see the real dialogue, the good
attitude for a change without violence and respect.
